Cheese, pasta, and basil makes for an amazing dish regardless. Now when you add gnocchi, a pasta made with mashed potatoes, you have something lovely. My local spot in North Haven called Bellini’s, is home to some of the best gnocchi you can get around here from an Italian joint. It will run you about $14 for an order, but since my man John knows I am a regular, he charges me $10 and throws in a bunch of his rolls he makes to go with his pasta. Yeah, those dinner rolls are bomb and you best believe I clean my takeout tray with each piece of bread by soaking up that delicious sauce that he makes. Clearly, me and him are on a first name basis and he takes care of his regulars.
So this dish comes loaded with pasta littered with basil and the cheese is strung from gnocchi to gnocchi. Be prepared to feel like a fat slob and to take a nap right after you house this dish down. Many people can’t finish this dish because it is so heavy, but my fat ass licks the plate clean. No gnocchi is safe when I sit down to destroy this dish. I am an absolute slut for cheesy pasta so this meal goes down nice and easy for me. All of the food at Bellini’s hits differently, it’s all fresh and never disappoints. I have never had a bad experience there. Go try it out; maybe you’ll get a pie or a sub or even some gnocchi. If you get the gnocchi expect to experience a stout gnocchi that I would rate a 9.2 out of 10. It only gets better if you go sit down at a place like Alta Strada at Foxwoods and they hand make every single gnocchi in the back then serve it to you on a golden platter.
